It is what it is!

上周同事在翻译新闻时突然问我“It is what it is”应该怎么翻译?新闻原文大概意思是这样,加拿大的“山东省”阿尔伯塔当时发生了大规模的冰雹天气,一位居民说了一句话:“This is Alberta, it is what it is”。看了原文我依然觉得摸不着头脑,作为主语的it和宾语的what it is都指代的是Alberta,直译的话应该是阿尔伯塔就是这样(夏天多冰雹天气)。但是这远远没有英语原文那种语气。上网做了点搜索后才发现,这是一个近年来才流行起来的说法。 在Urban Dictionary有人这样解释: 1.
